When designer Justine Orton and builder Luke Orton set out to create their latest project, Orton Haus 3.0, their vision was clear. To deliver a pair of homes that seamlessly balance comfort, craftsmanship, and contemporary Australian home design. Located in Merewether, NSW, this modern duplex demonstrates how thoughtful architecture and Australian designed tapware can transform everyday living into something extraordinary.

Orton Haus 3.0 consists of two side-by-side residences with identical layouts but contrasting finishes. The approach celebrates unity and individuality, creating a sense of calm spaciousness while allowing for subtle variations in mood.

The design palette is grounded in natural stone, neutral tones, arched windows, curved balustrades, and a striking void that floods the interiors with light. Every corner offers a considered detail in “little pockets of wow” that elevate the overall feel, from texture to soft, layered finishes.
“We wanted it to feel and look in a way that’s really comfortable to Australians today,” Justine explains. “It’s calm, it’s spacious, it’s grand, and it carries that quiet luxury we value in contemporary Australian living.”

A Seamless Partnership with Phoenix
Having collaborated with Phoenix on several builds, Justine and Luke knew exactly where to turn for their tapware, mixers, showers, accessories and sinks across bathrooms, kitchens, and laundries.
“From a builder’s point of view, they’re a go-to,” Luke says. “The plumbers love to work with them. They’re great quality, easy to install, always available, and they make the process smooth from start to finish.”

The duo wanted a cohesive aesthetic across both homes, with fittings that could unify the different colour palettes while maintaining consistency in design. Phoenix delivered. One duplex featured Phoenix’s Brushed Nickel finish throughout while the other featured Brushed Gold to complement the design aesthetic in each home.

Justine was mindful of offering functional yet stylish sink mixers and sinks throughout each property. The Nuage Pull Out Sink Mixer in Brushed Nickel and Vivid Slimline Pull Out Sink Mixer in Brushed Gold featured throughout the kitchens and laundries of each home, both teamed with Phoenix 5000 Series Sinks in the Matte White finish.

Vivid Slimline Plus Lever tapware features throughout both homes, again in both Brushed Nickel and Brushed Gold finishes. Already an elegant, low profile tapware design, the Plus Lever range features a beautiful teardrop shape on the side of each handle, which transforms into the lever detailing. The lever style is one that is on-trend at the moment, and it works perfectly in Justine and Luke’s project.
