The Cypress Ave Multi-Residential Project, consisting of eight townhouses.
Located in the inner-west Melbourne suburb of Brooklyn, the Cypress Ave project comprises eight architecturally distinct townhouses. Developed by Chamberlain Property in partnership with BuildHer Collective, and constructed by DeArt Developments, the project was completed in January 2025. Phoenix was proud to collaborate on this development to highlight the unique advantages of SwitchMix® in a real-world multi-residential setting.

A Two-Part System for Smoother Builds
At the core of SwitchMix® is a universal in-wall plumbing body, designed specifically for Phoenix mixers. It’s made up of two parts: the Rough-In Kit, installed behind the wall during the early construction phase, and the Fit-Off Kit, which includes the handle and backplate installed at the final stage.

This two-part system played a pivotal role in the success of the Cypress Ave project. The Rough-In Kits were installed early in the build, allowing construction to progress without needing final design or finish selections from the designers.
Once those decisions were made, the Fit-Off Kits were simply ordered and installed — brand new, and without the risk of damage or loss that can often come as a result of having traditional mixer bodies sitting around on-site.

Design Flexibility Without Compromise
With a range of buyers and tastes to consider, the Cypress Ave team needed a solution that could offer variety without sacrificing build efficiency. SwitchMix® delivered exactly that.
Three finishes — Brushed Nickel, Chrome and Brushed Carbon — were used across four Phoenix collections: Teel, Mekko, Vivid Slimline and Cromford. This allowed the developers to present buyers with curated design choices that aligned with their personal style.

Just as importantly, SwitchMix® ’s integrated waterproofing sleeve ensures that finishes and designs can be updated in future — without impacting the wall’s waterproof integrity. Only the front-of-wall components need replacing, giving buyers confidence that their home can evolve as their style does.

On-Site Changes Made Easy
Midway through the Cypress Ave build, an off-the-plan purchaser requested a change from Chrome to Brushed Carbon tapware. Thanks to the SwitchMix® system, this wasn’t an issue — even though the Rough-In Kits had already been installed.
With traditional mixer bodies, this kind of change would not have been feasible without significant rework. But with SwitchMix®, it was simple.
This flexibility at the off-the-plan stage is a major asset for property developers, helping secure buyers who want a more customised result.
