Designing Our Creative Future

June 06th, 2019

Creativity and excellence are at the heart of what we do, so it was a big ‘yes’ from us when Phoenix was invited to partner with The Design Files for their inaugural Design Awards, to be announced in September.

The initiative has been developed to celebrate Australian design and creativity, with Phoenix as the proud sponsor of the ‘Emerging Designer’ category.

What are the Design Awards?

The prestigious Design Awards are the brainchild of The Design Files founder Lucy Feagins, a passionate advocate for Australian design and innovation.

“The Design Files is all about making Australian design and creativity visible, and accessible. That’s why we wanted to create an awards program that recognises architecture and interiors alongside lesser celebrated categories : furniture and lighting design, textile design, handcrafted design, and even styling and art direction. We see all these creative disciplines as connected, and together they contribute so much to Australia’s cultural capital,” Lucy says.

Why Phoenix?

A leader in Australian design and innovation, our Australian design team has over 100 years of experience in the design industry collectively, and has been recognised with a string of local and international awards, most notably four iF Product Design awards and three Red Dot Awards.

This exciting partnership with The Design Files came about through a shared passion for recognising outstanding talent in the design space, and we’ve selected an award category that will help uncover the next generation of Australian designers and creatives.

“The Emerging Designer award in particular is one I am so passionate about, on a personal level. Discovering and supporting designers in the early stages of their career is so rewarding, and can make an enormous difference to their success. With the support of Phoenix Tapware, this award will acknowledge and champion the next generation of talented Australian designers and architects.” - Lucy Feagin

Lucy’s appreciation for the Phoenix design aesthetic and product range also contributed to forming the partnership. Her favourite looks include:

“I really like the Vivid Slimline range. The bench top tap with mixer is a versatile tap which would works equally well in kitchen, laundry or even commercial settings.”

Lexi Q Floor Mounted Bath Outlet - An elegant, contemporary solution for a freestanding bath... when you want your home bathroom to really have those ‘hotel room’ vibes!”

“For a modern bathroom, I like the NX Quil shower arm and rose for its sleek, understated design.”

From helping local sporting teams through to fundraising initiatives over the last 30 years, Phoenix has always been committed to supporting the community at a grassroots level. This opportunity allows us to take that support to another level and invest in the future of design and creativity in Australia.
