Lead Free Tapware & Mixers

Phoenix leads the way with our commitment to the new standards in Australia & New Zealand

About Lead Free

Australia is phasing out the use of lead in tapware to safeguard your drinking water. The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has amended the National Construction Code (NCC) to limit the allowable lead content in brass plumbing products, which contain copper alloys and are intended for use in contact with drinking water, to a weighted average lead content of not more than 0.25%. We are currently in the transition period for this change and by May 2026, all new tapware and mixers will fall in line with this new Lead Free standard, significantly reducing your exposure to this metal.

Phoenix Tapware is leading the charge, having started the transition with our Cromford collection in March 2023. This commitment reflects our belief in the vital role our Lead Free products can play in public health.

Why the switch? Lead can leach into drinking water, potentially causing health problems. The new regulations set a strict 0.25% lead limit to minimise this risk.

Choose Phoenix Lead Free products for peace of mind. By opting for any of our Lead Free products listed on this page and displaying the new Watermark Lead Free logo as your guarantee of compliance, you’re investing in your well-being and contributing to a healthier future for all.

(New Zealand standards of 0.25% lead content in tapware and mixers comes into place by 1 September 2025)
